ACTF seals global deals for Built to Survive and MaveriX

Major acquisitions of the Emmy-winning natural history series Built to Survive and the live-action Motocross drama MaveriX are among recent sales finalised by the ACTF international distribution team.

Built to Survive is being rolled out across the globe on National Geographic after the Disney-owned global media company acquired the series for the world, excluding the USA, Latin America, France and Australia.

The series is now airing on National Geographic in the UK, Turkey, Germany and South Africa, with other territories to follow.

Produced by Butter Media and Breslin Media for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Built to Survive is a 10-part series following outback adventurer, biologist and third generation Indigenous educator, Phil Breslin, as he braves some of Australia’s most extreme and hostile environments in search of the ultimate animal survivors: species that have evolved to withstand Australia’s extreme conditions and unique ecosystems.

Netflix has extended its worldwide rights for MaveriX, licensing the series for Australia and New Zealand. A co-commission for Netflix and the ABC, the series has up until now aired exclusively on the ABC in Australia.

Set in the thrilling world of motocross racing, MaveriX (Brindle Films) follows a group of junior riders that make up the first intake of the MaveriX Academy – a training program designed to push the riders to their limits, supercharge their talents and set them on a course to the big time.

In other recent sales, Little Lunch has been relicensed by Netflix for the USA and is now screening there for the first time in five years. The Gristmill mockumentary comedy series has been extremely successful on Netflix in other territories – according to Netflix’s latest engagement report, Season 1 amassed 2.2 million views in the six months to December 2024. Meanwhile, Season 3 of Kangaroo Beach will air in Canada after being acquired by Knowledge Network.
